Program Abroad: School for International Training (SIT) South Africa: Reconciliation and Development. I will also be staying with a Zulu-speaking family for four weeks, and will be learning Zulu upon my arrival. My program is an immersion program, so I will have three homestays and I'll take a reconciliation seminar and a development seminar. I will be doing a lot of traveling with the group and doing an independent study project on a subject I will choose while abroad.

I have become more and more aware of environmental issues, including those having to do with farming and fishing. I think it will be interesting to compare the methods used in the United States to those used in South Africa.

I am working to become more environmentally responsible. I take public transportation whenever possible, recycle paper, glass, aluminum, plastic, and plastic bags. I buy organic food, fair trade coffee, and don’t eat meat because of both the environmental impact and animal cruelty reasons.
