While Andy is studying abroad in Brazil with Living Routes, he will be taking classes in permiculture, which is basically natural building. There is also an emphasis on community development. Afterwards, he will take a one-week, hands on natural building workshop.

During his time at Carnegie Mellon University, Andy has worked as the webmaster for Sustainable Earth, the environmental club on campus. He also takes part in campus activities to promote sustainability and eco-friendly decisions. He buys largely organic, recycles everything that he can, makes a conscientious effort to turn off not only lights, but also computers and other electronics when not in use. Andy is a vegetarian, in part to reduce his global footprint.
