Submissions

Abroad View wants to see the world through your lens. We would love for you to send us compelling photographs from your time abroad. If you have a collection of images that you think is strong enough for a photo essay or online album, send us a few sample jpegs. If you're submitting an article, please think about which photographs will enhance the readers' experience and understanding. What we do not want are snapshots of you and your friends.

Additionally, in our print magazine, we’re looking for high-quality cover photographs (must be vertical, color images) and photographs to illustrate the table of contents and “Last Look.”

HOW TO SEND YOUR PHOTOS:
Formats we accept include prints and digital images.* Digital images are preferrred

Requirements:
- Photographers must submit complete contact details and caption information, including who, what, when, and where.
- If possible, please write down any quotes that can be used in captions to illuminate the photographs.

Film & Digital Photography Guidelines:

Taking Digital Photos
• Only images shot at 300 dpi will be considered for print publication.

Emailing Photos
• Only send up to five images for review. These should be 72 dpi images (.jpeg) at a size no larger than 5x7.
• An alternative is posting images on a website that we can easily access for review (not an account for which we have to register). Please provide link.

Photo CDs
• All scans must be at 300 dpi, at a size no smaller than 4 x 5. If you cannot make a high-quality scan, we will need an original photo for print publication. Scans are best when made with a drum or flex-tight scanner.
• If you want the CD returned include a S.A.S.E that the CD will fit into.
• If possible, please include a thumbnail sheet

Prints
• Please package all photographs/artwork and any other delicate material in between cardboard and in a sturdy envelope to prevent the art from being damaged.

We CANNOT publish any photos that do not meet these requirements. Please don’t forget to include caption, credit, and contact information with your digital images, too!

Any materials that you submit will be returned to you after they have been reviewed or, if published, after production is complete. Please include a permanent address to which we should return your materials.

Copyright:
The photographer retains the copyright to her/his photograph. If Abroad View wishes to use your photograph in print or web promotion materials, Abroad View will contact you for permission and credit the photographer. Photographs submitted to the Photo of the week, Webzine, Global Snapshot, Meta Photo Contest, or digital photographs submitted for the print publication may be uploaded to Abroad View's Flickr account - all copyright information will be appropriately assigned to the photographer.
